2017 MBP w/ Touch Bar, Critical Software Update Loop
Good Morning,
As stated, my 2017 MBP w/ Touch Bar is stuck in a critical software update loop. My MBP automatically downloaded the May 22nd, 2019 Mojave update (10.14.5) after I got back from vacation last week. While at work on Thursday, I decided to do the update while I was in a meeting. When I came back about an hour later, I had the following image pop up on my screen
After going through the process to update it, my computer go back to the same screen but with the following dialog overlapping the wifi screen.
This results in an endless loop where it never resolves the update. I had done just about everything possible including:
- Resetting VRAM
- Running First Aid (all clear)
- Reinstall MacOS
- Complete Reinstall
- Rolling back to a previous backup
- SMC Reset
- Reformat HD and reinstall
- Tried downloading update via Ethernet/WiFi on 3 different connections
I should note, I can enter Safe Mode no problem.
This seems to have stemmed from a firmware update to the Touch Bar. I do have a Kernal Panic occurring also.
Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it? I will probably end up taking it to a store if there is no easy fix.
