Paypal verification in App store

Phone says PayPal verification needed, doesn't let me touch anything on the screen telling me that, if I try to add a payment it says PayPal need to be verified (no clue or clarification on how I am supposed to do that) if I try and remove PayPal it says I can't because I have autopayments linked to PayPal which I know for a fact work because you were more than happy to take on on Saturday and the entire time I've been on iTunes et al has been through PayPal where PayPal has been working fine so I don't know why all these years later it wants to suddenly verify this nonsense except to make sure I can't download the app to make the laundry machine work like I was hoping to instead of foraging for quarters, but here I am in dirty clothes and an app store that won't let me app wondering how flammable my phone is.
