Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges

Most of my word files suddenly have this message when I try to open them, "Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges." I am the author of these documents. When I right click on the document, go to "get info" and try to change the sharing and permissions, it does not fix the problem. Any answers for me? Thank you!

I can not access Word documents saved on my Macbook Pro. This just started happening today. Every time I try to access a Word document from my laptop, it tells me the Microsoft Word needs access to the file. It prompts me to select the document and grant access. I do that, then it tells me: user does not have access privileges. Same thing happens when I try to access a document in a Dropbox folder that I own. I can access the Dropbox documents on my iPad, just not from my MacBook Pro. And I can access spreadsheets, pdfs and other format documents without a problem. How do I give myself access to my files again?

Can't Open a Word File on my New MacBook Air I bought a new MacBook Air in November and purchased the new Microsoft Office for Mac to go along with it. Just tried to open a file I made iwth my old computer and this popped up: "user does not have access privileges" I cannot open old files.
