What is the general consensus of the community about MacKeeper software? Supposedly there is an Apple Certified Support Professional available on the chat room to answer questions named Andrew.
Here is what they say about their software:
"MacKeeper is an optimal solution for stability and optimization of your Mac. It will keep your data protected whether you are online or offline."

You should heed the device of longtime users and experts over that of someone only interested in selling you something! Those who have answered your question have for many years been helping users with problems caused by such software. As has been suggested, a search on these forums will lead you to countless episodes caused by MacKeeper.

It is a worthless piece of junk. It uses an inordinate amount of computer resources to cause problems.
I would not trust their so called "Apple Certified Support Professional" to take out the trash seeing as how he has deem it fitting to associate with Zeobit.
Here's what their professional said in response to this formum's replies to my initial question:
"I'm so sorry for your experience. However MacKeeper is a well-known software and has thousands of users around the world. In order to find all necessary information about it, you can visit our official web-site: ****"

Please read the replies again. I stand by them.
I lost count of how many times removal of MacKeeper has solved problems on Macs I was called into help solve problems.
I would not trust it or anyone who works for Zeobit.
Do you honestly expect them to do anything other then lie to you.

Isn't MacKeeper owned by Kromtech now? Of course it has not become any better of a program, it's still a scam that would cause adverse performance issues. But I'm pretty sure it's not Zeobit anymore that is the perpetrator.
This is a bad app...stay away from it. Google how to get rid of it...it's a little more involved than just deleting it from application folder...it is wrapped around a lot of things.. My computer was greatly improved after being rid of it!!
It's garbage. Don't ever, ever install it.
Do not install any third party apps that claim to clean, protect, etc. your computer. MacKeeper would be one such app.

Thanks everyone for your comments....although some of you could have been just a bit more polite. I'm only Level 1 and not as wise as you all. That's why I ask the questions here.
If you sensed any angry in the responses, it was not directed at you personally but was directed at the sleazy developers and their underhanded methods of selling by using fear.
In order to uninstall it, you must use the uninstall procedure.
