MacKeeper

I called Apple (I thought) and asked about MacKeeper, and was told that it is good for my Mac computers, so I bought it for three computers (such a deal). I have recently begun to wonder about the program and the wisdom in using it because some issues have developed.

What's the real scoop on MacKeeper? Thanks for any information you can give me.

If Apple told you that, it was a grave error. Most likely it was a scam number who answered "Apple Inc, how can we help you". MacKeeper is trash and will slow your system down at best, destroy critical system files at worst.

Remove it immediately from all Macs.

Never install any app that claims to "tune up", "speed up" or "clean up" your Mac. These apps exist for one reason: to separate the unwary and inexperienced user from their hard-earned money. At best they do very little, at worst, they can damage your OS installation and cause far more problems than they "solve".
