accidentally put loads of icons on desktop

I think I should say to start, I am an older user and not very savvy with computers!!

I airdropped some photos, then tried moving them to photos. I tried selecting all 6 of them and then tried dragging them, but somehow "everything" had been selected and now my desktop has hundreds of icons on it.

I panicked and turned the computer off and restarted it, so I lost the chance to undo.

Really need to get back to a clear screen....help!

I have a macbook pro retina 2015

Using Mojave

Cheers

In the Finder, click on the "File" menu on the menu bar and select "New Finder Window". In the left pane of the Finder window which opened, click on "Desktop" so you can see everything on your Desktop in the right pane of the window. Now if you open another "New Finder Window" you can create a new folder and drag & drop all those pictures from the Desktop into the new folder. After you clear the Desktop of all those photos, you can move them to where you desire or import them into Photos.
