Apple pay cash

My son had sent me a large sum of money through apple pay. I was trying to transfer it to the bank and then the number on the cash "card" disappeared. Now my bank card has also disappeared. Where is the money? Will it come back after I reinstate my bank card into Apple pay? I am freaking out because I need this money to pay bills. This isn't actually about "setting up apple pay". I've had it set up for months now, but I don't understand how my money could just disappear like that.
