washing machine damage

I have an iPhone 7. It has a few scratches here and there and one crack on the bottom near the home bottom, not on the actual screen. I accidentally put it in the washing machine for a three hours cycle. It was not smashed at all ,except the previous crack that has a small water bubble. it has now been in a bag of rice in the hot press for since Sunday evening ( it is now Wednesday afternoon ). My contract is still going for another year and a half plus I don’t know if I have insurance. If anyone has any advice I would love some please . ( is it worth going to the apple store, should I try Turning it on , should I charge it, do I just leave it and buy a new one after me contract is up ,that would be my last resort.)

I'm afraid you've probably damaged it irreparably. I shouldn't try to turn it on, if I were you: even if it works now (which sounds unlikely after its experience) it will likely fail in the near future as the water corrodes the very fine copper strips which make up the circuit board.

Take it to an Apple Store 'Genius' (make an appointment) or an Apple authorised repair service and ask for an assessment. Apple's guarantee doesn't cover water damage: possibly your home insurance might.

Update; I brought it to an iphone fixing shop (iPhone bits), that wasn’t the apple store. they said it was doubtful it will work but they will check. In the end after 2 days they phoned to say I only need a new battery, a new screen and something else I can’t remeber the name of (sorry). it is coast 125 quid (uk). Was fixable the day of the call.
