Now that iTunes is dead, how will I buy songs

Since Apple is killing off iTunes, what will be the option for those of us who have **NO** interest in a music subscription service to *buy* music?

Personally, I'd like to see a way to buy music from the website, as an alternative to having to use a hacked-together install of the client under Wine or to have to dig my 2010 MBP out of my stack of test machines.

The rumours of the death of iTunes have been somewhat exaggerated. iTunes is staying exactly the same except for those who install the next version of macOS 10.15 Catalina where the functions will be split between three new apps and Finder.
