my daughter has been on my iTunes account for years and our music libraries are intermixed. Can she create her own account and separate herself from my account without losing all her music?

Yes she can (and should) get her own Apple ID, as all settings relating to Apple ID are individual by design. Depending on her age, that may require adult consent/supervision.
