passcode on watch
Since last update my watch keeps asking for a passcode. Is this normal?

Yes if you have set the passcode. If this is new behavior you should be asking which setting has changed that it didn’t ask for a passcode so frequently before the update. In the Watch app on your iPhone check the following settings (with my suggested settings)
My Watch/Passcode/(passcode of your choice enabled)
My Watch/Passcode/Wrist Detection (on)
My Watch/Passcode/Unlock with iPhone (on)
That should give you best usability and security without having to enter the passcode every time you blink.
