Can I upgrade my iPad Bluetooth version?
I believe I am on 4.2, but 5 is so much better for sound quality when playing music for example. Significantly better quality

No sorry. The Bluetooth receiver in your iPad cannot be physically changed or upgraded.
No. The bluetooth version is dependent on the bluetooth hardware installed. Sound quality is better, because the actual BT chip hardware is newer and better and supports the better audio quality.
There is no software update that can modify hardware that way.
Apple would be more than delighted to sell you a new iPad with the BT 5 chip! :-)
