Mac Closing

My Mac just shuts down at will but photos keep on playing

Photos beachballs - on Mojave I have an iMac with plenty of storage and ram etc = run Mojave still = other apps running fine but Photos won't open = it's beachballing. Not sure of the next steps. I can force quit but did that before and it's still beach balling ==

my mac is stuck with a box saying closing library, i can close photos app. while trying to import and edit a photo my photo app is stuck, has a black box -closing library- has been like that 24 hours and photos will not quit to allow me to do the repair process.

Please reset the NVRAM per the directions in How to reset NVRAM on your Mac and see if that solves the problem.
