how do we control unknown connections to our WiFi on AirPort?

I see a list of connected devices, but cannot do anything with them. There are 2 I do not recognize, and wanna BOOT them off. But there doesn't seem to be any way to manage this list. What am I missing?

AirPort

As Bob has mentioned, you cannot manage this list of devices with an AirPort base station. It just doesn't have that type of feature available.

One option is to use an app, like iNet Network Scanner on a Mac or iOS device to get a more comprehensive listing of what clients are on your local network. From there, it can help you identify them so you can make a decision on, whether or not, to attempt to remove them.

You can't "manage" the list, it simply indicates how many devices are connected to your WiFi network.

Change the password for your WiFi network. Then, log on one at a time with each of your WiFi devices. Don't forget things like printers, cameras, phones, Apple TV, etc. Keep count of the number of devices that you log onto the network after you change the password. Make notes on each one as you go by looking at the ID numbers in the client list.

If you log on with 6 WiFi devices for example......but you see 7 devices in the client list......you have an unwanted guest on the network.

You're very welcome!

FWIW. Don't forget IoT devices, like smart TVs, thermostats, appliances, lighting fixtures, etc. These can appear on your network as well.

If you are concerned about "non" guests, you may want to consider upgrading your network where you can create multiple virtual networks (VLANs) to separate your "main" network from the one used exclusively for IoT devices. The AirPort only has a very simple VLAN when configuring it with a Guest network.
