I have a new MacBook Pro and a new LG 5K monitor with USB-C. When I plug the external monitor in, there is a loud static buzzing type noise occurring. I have a music studio and this is driving me crazy. I see there was a post in Dec 2017 and am wondering if there is solution to this problem.

Are you using the 3 prong grounded extension for the magsafe charger. This replaces the 2 prong duckhead.

Ok. So I was using my laptop without the cable plugged in and I guess the ground in the cable is what was needed since there is only a very slight hum in the monitors and not the static and volume that was present before.
