I was able to set it up but it won't work for Xfinity app playing on my iphone. It gives a "licensing" message error popup. Is there any go around for this so I can play Xfinity streaming on my Apple TV?

Can you get around it by hardwiring HDMI cable from iphone to TV? Does their software detect it anyway? I really resent this as it is clearly a way of getting you to buy Roku which is now owned by comcast. I am certainly not going to watch it on the iphone small screen.
The Xfinity Stream app (iOS/Android) does not allow AirPlay/Casting/mirroring to TVs “due to rights restrictions from some of the networks”. There is no setting to change within the app. [1]
The iOS device-to-HDMI connection is managed as screen mirroring, and will have the same restriction.
