iTunes closure - downloading music on new music App

So personally I’m really disappointed that iTunes is closing. Apple have released quite a bit of info about the new Apps but I’m struggling to find the answer to my 3 questions -

1 - will we still be able to download music off the internet for free or will we have to subscribe to Apple Music to do this? I know there isn’t many options to download for free but you do still get the odd song that artists will allow you to download for free?

2 - can we still add music from CDs onto the new App and again will this be free or do we need to subscribe to Apple Music?

3 - are we still able to transfer music from the new App to an iPod and will this also be free or do we need to subscribe to Apple Music?

Many thanks for any replies.

Yes to downloads, no to being forced to use Apple Music.

Yes to ripping your own CDs, no to being forced to use Apple Music.

3 - are we still able to transfer music from the new App to an iPod and will this also be free or do we need to subscribe to Apple Music?

Yes you'll still be able to add content to your devices, no to being forced to use Apple Music.

And unless you have a Mac capable of upgrading to Catalina and choose to upgrade there will be no changes at all.

The rumours of the death of iTunes have been somewhat exaggerated. iTunes is staying exactly the same except for those who install the next version of macOS 10.15 Catalina where the functions will be split between three new apps and Finder, the Mac equivalent to Windows Explorer. See About the upcoming changes with iTunes on Mac - Apple Support for details that have been made public so far.
