Stop Apple News App Notifications MacOS

I am suddenly starting to get Apple News notifications from the Apple News App in my MacOS. I think that started because the Apple News App was opened for the first time by another application.

I have gone into the Apple News App and there is nothing about setting push notifications.

I have gone under the Notifications symbol on the top right of the screen, and there is no way to stop display of notifications.

If I had wanted these notifications, I would have asked for them. Where can I turn them off? Delete the News App?

have you gone to System Preferences > Notifications and turned off absolutely everything under the News heading? Set it to none and UNtick all choices. You can do this to any/all entries there.
