Problem with syncing desktop to iCloud

Hi,

For the last 3 months I've been using dropbox desktop syncing on my Mac - I turned that on via terminal (simple switch desktop's view), but now I want to come back to apple ecosystem. I tried doing the same process but reversed and it didn't end well.

I cannot add anything to the desktop, cause it doesn't display its content. In finder I can easily add things to the desktop locally, but whenever I want to sync it I have to copy whole folder and paste it in the iCloud folder.

I reckon, I messed something up with aliases, but I'm not 100% sure.

Any ideas?

Ok, I repaired it!

Here are commands I used to:

Firstly I had to move Desktop folder to the iCloud documents location (I guess)

sudo mv ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/ ~/Desktop

Then I removed Desktop folder using this command: rm -r /Users/USERNAME/Desktop

And then I used this command (not sure what it does :P):

ln -s ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Desktop /Users/USERNAME/Desktop

Lastly I used 'exit' command to exit sudo mode.

If it didn't work for you, I recommend to type 'sudo bash' and then your password to enter root user.

Credits go to some high-ranked google sites. I've visited so many of them haha.
