I can watch programs on catch up fine but sometimes the screen freezes and a spinning arrow appears. At this point Safari has crashed and the only way to reset it (that I have found) is to restart the MacBook.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Can I find and send a crash log to BBC/Apple to help with a resolution?

Isolating an issue by using another user account
If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.
