I have a lot of music in iTunes that I have downloaded from my own CD's and none of this is being recognised in Music.
What exactly does that last word, “Music” mean?
There is no Apple application named “Music” on a Mac. One typically listens to music using the Mac’s iTunes app.
I will guess perhaps you’re expecting to find your downloaded music in Apple Music. Maybe you subscribe to Apple Music and (incorrectly) think your downloads need to be incorporated into an Apple Music baseline.
If so, you’ve got it backwards. Apple Music gets added to your library, not the other way.
But but you should be extremely careful when thinking of these two items together. Leaving Apple Music, should you do that in the future, will naturally remove any music you may have obtained as a benefit of your Apple Music subscription.
