water damaged XS MAX?

hi,just looking for some help or advise here, yesterday i was walking home in heavy rain, anyway i had my phone out most of the time(about 15min) so i could watch the F1 qualifying on my way home, anyway because the phone is supposed to be water resistant i thought this would be ok,the phone switched off and restarted immediately,i thought this was just a random reboot at the time, well about 3 hours later i put my phone on charge, after 30 min i went to unplug it and it was extremely hot(hotter than when i plag games like PUBG), the face ID wouldn't work and said something like "face ID disabled,iPhone needs to cool down" well since then the face id has totally stopped working and the phone shuts down and reboots every time i try to use it,i cant even send my pics that aren't on icloud to another iphone via whattsapp or airdrop.

i booked an appointment for wednesday morning, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before?

also,i tried to look at the water damage indicator in the sim card slot and it looks like it is still white, although it is hard to see.

Water resistance is not a guarantee against water intrusion and water damage. It merely means a water resistant device is less likely to experience water damage, relative to a non-water resistant device. But it does not mean it cannot happen.

Just my opinion, but deliberately or knowingly exposing expensive consumer electronic devices to water is asking for problems. If you want a device to use in the rain, in the pool, etc, get a mil-spec rated device that covers water damage in the warranty. Mil-spec standards include water tight covers for all ports, plugs, opening in the device when not in use.

But the very fact that Apple, Samsung, Lg and all the others offering IP67 or IP68 rated smart phones do not cover water damage is because those IP ratings do not mean it is safe to expose to water. They just mean if it gets wet, you’ve got a better chance than an unrated device of surviving the exposure.

Ignore the suggestion by CarsonI2509. Do not under any circumstances wash your phone!!! Whatever damage may have been done already, by you foolishly using it in the rain, is not going to be undone by you washing it with any type of liquid. BTW, charging it was a poor decision as well. It might be considered water damage, it could be a short circuit or a leak maybe from another place and does not leak into the Sim card tray yet, but beware, rain water is acidic, it might damage the water proof seal, my best advice is to wash it with Plain water first then let it dry for 3 hours, do not use hair dryer or something hot, because it could soften the water proof seal. Also, did you charge the phone when it's wet? Let me know.
