Creating ProRes 422 videos through quicktime or iMovie?

I have some mini DV footage that, due to some corruption in the cassettes, I can't properly ingest as DV PAL format. The current version of quicktime appears to only capture footage in H.264 which is overkill for what I need. Does iMovie or Quicktime have a way of capturing footage as ProRes 422? I do have the codecs installed but do not have access to FCP or similar.

Converting Videos Imported to iMovie in Apple Intermediate Codec Hi All, Awhile back I would use iMovie '08 & '11 to import & store videos from my iPhone & camcorder, and some of these videos were converted from the base codec to Apple Intermediate Codec on import (I am not sure exactly why). I now have all of these videos that were in my iMovie Events folder and they are unplayable in Quicktime (I guess newer versions of Quicktime dropped support for AIC?) and also are taking up a ton of space. I am hoping that someone knowledgable on video formats would be able to answer these questions: What would be the best tool to convert these back to H.264 codec & retain good quality? Would it be possible to retain the metadata like created date and gps coordinates in this conversion process? Looking back it probably would have made sense for me to store the files coming out of the iPhone/camcorder separate from iMovie but unfortunately I only have these AIC files. settings for converting to mp4 from MOV in FCP7 Hello, After digitizing hundreds of VHS tapes, now I am trying to store and save them in various formats. I am trying to save in MP4 but they are very pixillated. A two hour clip is coming in at only 211 MB. That seems really small. Can anyone walk me through the settings in FCP 7 for best quality or is there another app in the suite that would do a better job and or even batch convert? Many thanks Enio Cordoba

How do I export HEVC from Final Cut Pro X? Gone after update. In the past I've been able to export to a "Vimeo" share destination in FCPX. This worked great. It let me set the frame size and codec, ie h264 or h265. That destination and codec option seems to have disappeared in Final Cut Pro X 10.15. I don't like exporting for Vimeo via Compressor because in the past, I've had problems. The Compressor output was turning all my Flow edits into hard cuts a few months ago. But now it seems like Compressor is the only way to get an h265 / HEVC export going. It was a lifesaver before because my Vimeo account has an upload limit and I'm always pushing it. So, I'm trying this latest version of Compressor to do an export because FCPX seems to have taken away HEVC as a codec option. I know, I know, I should output ProRes masters and then use that to convert to h265 in Compressor. But it used to work fine until a few months ago. And that's another step I have to babysit.
