Preview App verses Adobe

As of late I have had numerous problems with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. So my question is simply does the Apple app Preview have the same capability as Adobe?

It seems each time I opt to print a particular document or picture, I am always prompted with the Adobe app. Please advise

For Mojave, you want the current Adobe Acrobat Reader DC product v2019.*. It is the only version of Reader that Adobe states is compatible with Mojave. If you are using an older version of this product on Mojave, it may not function as expected.

Adobe can provide the most recent enhancements, and PDF standards support in their product. Apple cannot because of the age of the underlying PDF support in the PDFKit frameworks that Preview is based. Some PDF are created by Adobe LiveCycle Designer on Windows, and occasionally, creators of PDFs using this software will also include PDF requests to load Acrobat Reader DC extensions — which cause Preview to throw a fit.
