Hi, I’m looking at purchasing a iPad for my son to play fortnite and was wondering if you could tell how much ram the iPad 5th gen has and can fortnite be played on it ?

Hello!

You do not need to worry about "RAM" memory. You only need to worry about having a compatible model with a fast enough CPU that will run Fortnite:

The iPad 5th generation (2017) can run Fortnite (and of course the iPad 6th generation (2018) as well):

These models can also run Fortnite:

iPad Mini 4, 5
iPad Air 2, 3
iPad Pro

The only variation is how much storage capacity (disk storage space) you get. Even the smallest capacity you can buy is plenty of space to run Fortnite.
