backing up photos to macbook
i’m trying to back up all of my photos from my phone to my macbook before trading my phone in. it won’t let me, only picks a random 14 pictures each time and imports them

Is iCloud Photos enabled on your iPhone? Then you cannot import the photos directly to your your Mac by downloading from the iPhone, because many of the photos will be only in iCloud and optimized on the iPhone.
In that case use iCloud Photos to download the photos. Are you using Photos for mac on your Mac?
