Can’t receive text from some iPhone users.

I recently switched to an Android phone, it’s a 6 month project, and I disabled iMessage, etc... However, some people still can’t text me. Their text/SMS messages go via iMessage and end up with my iPad. This is really annoying. I have done everything Apple has said to do. It’s as though I am being held “hostage” to iMessage. Certainly won’t go back to iPhone if it’s impossible to change.

Does anybody have a real solution to this which does not involve asking others to delete and renter my contact information manually?

Deregister iMessage on your iPhone or online

If you switched to a non-Apple phone and aren't getting SMS/MMS messages, you might need to deregister iMessage.

Deregister iMessage online

If you don't have access to your iPhone, you can deregister iMessage online. After you complete deregistration, your phone number is removed from iMessage services. You should be able to receive text messages right away but it might take a few hours for some Apple devices to recognize that you're not using iMessage when they send you a message.

If someone sends an iMessage to your Apple ID, you'll get it on your other Apple devices. If someone sends a text to your phone number, you'll get the message only on your phone.
