Airpods 2019 audio quality

Hi,

I am disappointed with my Airpods. I bought them for phone calls and the audio quality is not good.

They apparently are Bluetooth 5.0 but dont seem to support the HFP 1.6 high bandwidth protocol. Sad and a bit crazy, since there are lots of 30$ cheap headsets which do have HFP 1.6!

Can this be fixed with an update?

P.S. please dont answer "the audio quality for calls is great" unless you have compared it with HFP 1.6 enabled earphones. Thanks.
