Target Disk Mode on MacBook 2010

I’ve just started working at a high school and found a bunch of 2010 MacBook pros lying around. I’d love to get them working for my classes but I’ve got absolutely no way of logging in and the firmware password is nowhere to be found. I’ve tried Target Disk Mode but it won’t load that either.

I’m at a loss but I really want to get these up and running. Suggestions?

Since those 2010 MacBook Pros your school have all have EFI passwords there are no tricks or techniques (like Target Disk Mode) that can bypass that. But you can do something:

The school will need to pull up their original invoices from when they purchased these. This would be a more accountant type question and may have to go up towards the school district level. At some point these were purchased and invoiced. All Apple needs to help is a copy of that invoice showing the specific serial numbers and then the EFI firmware password can be removed.

Since you have a lot of these I think the work to get this information pulled up would be worth it. Once you have that info any Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store Genius Bar can help.
