Adding 2nd email to facetime

I'm trying to add a second email to FaceTime so that me and my partner can chat to each other with the same Apple ID. When I try to do this it won't send the verification email, then says "error" next to the new email address. It then asks me to sign in with two step authentication, which I do, but this doesn't seem to change anything.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

thanks

Apple ID cannot be shared for FaceTime.

It's also not advisable to share Apple ID at all.

Each user should have their own Apple ID.

If you want to share music, books or apps purchases, use Family Sharing, read here: Family Sharing - Apple Support
