Apple Pay through Apple Cash never works at Subway

I use Apple Cash at retailers all over town, Subway is the only one that it doesn't work with. You are correct the funds are taken from my Apple Cash account via Apple Pay, but it's the same process. Apple Cash is set as my default card. Worked at McDonalds earlier, and a Maverik Gas station later, but always fails at Subway. It seems to be because the back end is Discover. I know of people with a Discover card loaded in their Wallet, and their physical Discover card works at Subways, but multiple reports that the Discover (and by extension Apple Cash) won't work via Apple Pay at Subway restaurants.

I agree it is ultimately a Subway issue. Apple has Subway listed on their main page as a merchant that accepts Apple Pay, and if a dozen or so people in my office don't go there because it doesn't work, that is a problem. Apple is missing out on their merchant fee, and Subway doesn't make the sale. Both are at a loss here and no one is winning. Not to mention that it discourages future use of the product in other settings where this particular issue may not apply. Ideally someone at Apple would pick up a phone and call a counterpart at Subway to clearly define the issue, and come to a mutual resolution, whether or not Apple considers this a priority is another manner. I just assumed with Apple Card coming out this summer, they may want to put an added focus on resolving these types of product issues.
