Still no live photos in iMovie?

Is it true, that you still cannot select a live photo in newest iMovie update?

Or is there a way on how to select the video info from the file?

No, I do not want to export every photo as video and then import it in iMovie...

Thanks.

If your question is whether you can import a live photo directly into iMovie's newest version, and still have it retain its "live" character -- the answer is no. You can import the live photo but it will come in as a still .jpeg.

A live photo is a still image coupled with a 2 second video. You can do a File/Export/as Unmodified Original of the live photo from the Photos app to your desktop. You will get a still .jpeg file and a separate 2 second video file. You can drag both into iMovie, thus preserving the live photo effect if you wish.
