Bootcamp says drive is ejected while downloading drivers

I have MBP mid 2012.

I changed hd-drive cable recently.

Now I have issues with bootcamp installation.

I can't download any drivers, each time I start the download of windows supporting drivers it gets stuck (sometimes it shows the timer, sometimes don't. if it finishes with the download it gets stuck anyway) or it says the drive I download it on is ejected even though it's not(I check it via disk-util)((and I can move files to and from the usb-drive, so it definitely is connected all the time.))

I

I tried reinstalling MacOs, changing USB-drives, changing internet connection.

Haven't tried refreshing SMC yet.

Any ideas would help, thx!

On a 2012 Mac, you must disconnect the Optibay disk for the duration of the Windows installation. Windows must be installed on the main bay disk, and stay there, otherwise you will run into issues of installation and any future Repair that you need to do.

Your USB must use a USB2 Flash drive of 8-16GB. USB3 will not work. W10 1809 and later have a install.wim which will not fit a FAT32 disk. It needs to be formatted as exFAT to allow the larger WIM files to work.

I have my main drive(SSD) in place of the optical drive and additional HDD where HDDs usually are. I switched them basically.

I replaced the hard drive cable with a new one. Optical cable remains the same.

I tried installing win 10 pro 1809/1703/1903.

It keeps saying I have no space on my USB drive. It's obviously not true.

It is formatted FAT32 MBR via Disk Util and have exactly 16GB free space.
