found a charge on my iTunes that I did not make...when I went to cancel it, the site asked for all my info including my SS#....I get very suspicious when this happens....was I really charged or was this a scam?

Among other things common to these fake purchase emails (besides the mentioned one that Apple will never ask for your SS number), Apple's email receipts also never include links to cancel a purchase.
As long as you didn't fill out any other information and submit the form, you're fine. If you did submit other info, you will need to take steps to protect yourself or your Apple account immediately. Such as, if you did submit your Apple ID and password, you must change that password NOW!, before the crooks lock you out of your own account.
You found it where ? What site ? Do you mean you received an email ? Obviously Apple/iTunes doesn't need to ask for your details, they already have them.
Scam! Apple would never ask for your SS#.
