They do accept damaged phones, (they started doing so about 2 years ago) but Apple personnel will have to assess it and decide what you will get. Consider the $100 the maximum possible. You may do better selling it yourself.
A damaged phone is not eligible for trade in.

Actually, after reading the fine print associated with “the buttons work” and “it turns on”, you will see that the Apple Trade In site offers no money at all. The answers to both these questions are “No”.
