MacBook Internal Microphone Disappearing

Every now and then, my internal microphone disappears from the System Preferences Sound panel, under the Input tab (screenshot), leaving me unable to select it for usage. It also doesn't appear when I `option+click` the sound icon on the upper system bar, near the clock. Rebooting usually helps, as well as resetting SMC and PRAM/NVRAM.

Apparently whenever I connect an external audio device (AirPods or a wired external headset), eventually the internal input device goes missing.

I'd love to troubleshoot this myself, but I have no clue what to look for on the Console (side note: that thing is a nightmare nowadays of so much logging that's going on there).

Took it to my local authorized Apple service rep, to no avail.

PS: there's someone else out there with the exact same issue and setup than mine: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/357513/mac-doesnt-recognize-internal-microphone

Just took a peak at /var/log/system.log after finding a symptom that helped me pinpoint a timeframe when the issue was triggered. Here's my finding:

Jun 14 13:44:03 Rivanor-MacBook-Pro com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent): Unknown key for integer: _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit
Jun 14 13:44:11 Rivanor-MacBook-Pro com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.preference.sound.remoteservice[13150]): Service exited due to SIGKILL | sent by com.apple.preference.sound.remot[13150]

I have no idea what to do with this, though.
