My iPad comes on and goes off on its own

What can I do to stop my iPad from going off and coming on on its own? Regardless of how busy I may be on my iPad, it sometimes suddenly displays the Apple logo and goes off. Oftentimes, it comes back first by displaying the Apple logo, may be stable for some time, and go off again
