How to connect a SAN LUN to a Mac?

Hi,

I've connected my iMac Pro to my SAN with a Promise SANLINK3 adapter, zoning on the Brocade switch is ok, I can see the Mac from the FC Storage-System (Pure), but I can't see the mapped lun as a disc device on Mojave ...

This is a general question, I guess independent of storage and FC-Adapter ... how does Mojave handle SAN LUN's?

iMac Pro, macOS 10.14

The Promise SANLINK3 and similar products from other companies merely provides the physical connection. As indicated by rcosta887 you also need to install some software since this function is not built-in to macOS.

This type of software is generically referred to as an 'iSCSI Initiator'.

In addition to the two listed by rcosta887 there are the following possibilities.

I have not used any myself but the GlobalSAN one has been around a long time. Something to consider is whether you will be having multiple different computers connecting to the same SAN LUN at the same time. If so you might need a SAN metadata controller to managed this.

Apple used to provide this as part of their server software under the name XSan but have long given up on it. See - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/xsan

High end SAN products usually offer this including compatibility with Mac clients. However for a smaller setup have a look at this - https://www.studionetworksolutions.com/sanmp/
