i can't seem to record the internal audio. i tried screen recording with the microphones on, but it only records my voice. I noticed that when screen recording is activated, the internal audio came out the ear speaker instead of the bottom speaker. how do i change that?
No, you can't record internal audio because of copyright's limits.
The only audio you can record during a screen recording is the one captured by your microphone (voice, or enviromental sounds).

I emailed Apple about it and received an official reply.
Screen Recording does record internal audio. I sent them YouTube video Screen recording, Amazon Music, Apple Music, PUBG etc. Every single app was recording internal audio.
I emailed them to draw their attention towards copyright issue. Their reply was that they have APIs for that and respective app developer has to mute the audio if screen recording is turned on.
So to answer your question in short, you can record internal audio with screen recording, but it depends on which app you are using.
inrternal audio recording is supported only for selective apps like youtube,spotify,soundcloud. you cant record apple music and even you cant record video in netflix
