27" Cinema Display and Windows PC with VGA/Displayport

Hello,

we want to connect 27" Cinema Display and one Windows PC

We tried one Minidispayport Cable to normal Display port without Success.

We will try a Adapter - do you know if it is in generell posible to use Cinema + Windows PC?

Thx, in advance!

The back of the 27" Mini DisplayPort display has 3 USB ports.

The back of the 27" Thunderbolt display has 3 USB ports, 1 FireWire port, one Thunderbolt port, and one Ethernet port.

If your display has a network (Ethernet) port on the back, then it's a Thunderbolt display.

Yes, it general you should have no problem. I can't think of any good reason why your full-size DisplayPort to MDP cable didn't work. Does Windows itself see that it has a second monitor attached?

There is a 3rd-party utility you can install for Windows, but that is to control the brightness and nothing else. Perhaps the brightness was the issue?

You can also download the Windows Boot Camp support files as this helps get things working better (like sound) but even still should not be required for video:

Windows 10 has a integrated Brightness Controll as far as I know. So perhaps USB Cable for Brightness Software is not required? https://www.holstschumacher.dk/p/brightness-controller.html
