Series 4 watch with the discontinued woven nylon bands

I'm looking at getting a series 4 watch but the old woven nylon bands (with the buckle) that have been discontinued are my favourite bands, I have quite a few of them. I know all the advice says that a 38mm band will fit the new 40mm watch, and I do have one of the new 40mm sport loops which fits my 38mm series 1 watch. But I've noticed that the anchors/lugs that attach the band to the watch sit flush with the case when it's 38mm to 38mm or 40mm to 40mm and project slightly when it's a 38mm watch and a 40mm band.

So, anyone who has a woven nylon band and a series 4 watch, how much does the case overhang the anchor/band? Is it noticable or annoying? Does it snag things?
