Error Message, Can't Connect to iCloud

I am not able to connect to anything that involves iCloud, for example Mail. Error messages attached. I am 100% sure I am entering the right password into iCloud System Preferences. It's not telling the the password is wrong, it says there is "an unknown error". What is going on and how can I connect to iCloud?

You asked me to report back: I restarted in safe mode and the progress bar went all the way to the end and then just stayed there. Wouldn't complete. I gave it lots of time, worried, and then just shut down using the power button. I started again (power button) and it took a while to start up (progress bar) but then it came to the log in screen. I logged in, went back to mail and by itself it kicked in and began downloading 12 or so emails. I was back connected to the cloud! I don't think this is how it was "supposed to" go, but it worked out in the end. I guess running all the checks it does booting in safe mode did the trick, even though I never actually got to use it in safe mode. So that is how I "fixed" it! Not sure if that would help someone else but your post is full of info sure to help someone. Thank you!

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit System Preferences.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
