How many days does an Apple store hold an item for pick up?

If I have an item ready for pick-up at an Apple store on Monday but cannot make it for the pick up till following Saturday or Sunday, will the apple store hold the item? Is there any way of letting Apple store know that I will be coming to pick up on Saturday and schedule a time slot for that?
