Message send failure

Every time i send a sms text message my phone will tell me "message failed to send" even though the messages are being sent. I checked on my friends phone and he receives the messages i am sending even though my phone tells me they aren't being sent. I even get responses to the messages I send. I've reset my network settings and checked my message settings as well. I don't know why my phone is doing this.
