My mac is not recognizing my iphone, so I can not connect to itunes
and apparently, I have to be on the home screen on my iphone, which
I can not access because my iphone is disabled

I have the exact same issue! All the internet is telling me to do is connect to iTunes... And i can't because like you said you need to be on your home screen to connect to it. I am so stuck with this. Have you managed to sort this out? if you have would love to hear some advice on what to do.
So, does iTunes see the phone at all?
