USB-C Ethernet/Power iOS Solution?? Please.

I currently use a Redpark Ethernet/Lightning adapter with a PoE switch, that is connected to the home router. Works well, providing internet/power to iOS devices; for a Wifi free house.

Considering Apple is moving to USB-C ports for its iOS devices, many pundits say! Following the iPad Pro. Would anybody know of a wired solution over USB-C that provides Ethernet/Power??

Looked at Thunderbolt docks which have USB-C ports; however a salesman said that they only extend port functionality from the computer. These docks don't act as a networked switch or hub.

Found this ⬇. It doesn't work for iOS. 😒

I'm not surprised anymore of how ignorant or difficult Apple and others are in relation to users who want wired connections. They make it as hard as possible to avoid Wifi.

Any suggestions or tips in regards to a solution for USB-C, would be most welcome.

Hello Mischa

Thank you for your emails.

There

were many pundits who expected Apple to release USB-C iPads and iPad

minis in recent months.  But Apple did not do this.   (Nor did I expect

them to.)

Anyone who

thought USB-C was coming to these devices had not paid attention to the

information that Apple had provided to the marketplace.

USB-C is for the iPad Pro.  I do not expect it to appear on iPads, iPad minis or iPhones anytime soon.

Apple

is just now releasing a new generation of Lightning connectors to MFI

(Made for iPhone) Licensees like us.  Apple would not be doing this if

Lightning was going to be replaced next year.

Our

existing L6-NETPOE adapter is not compatible with the USB-C iPad Pros.

Apple did not simply change the physical connector on the iPad Pros,

they also changed the protocol that is used to manage charging.

We will be releasing a PoE adapter for use with USB-C iPads — but not for some time.   (Perhaps end of this year?)
