Apple Profile Manager and intune

Hi,

I'm currently managing 150 iPads using Apple Profile Manager. I am being asked to move everything over to Microsoft intune. Are there any disadvantages of using intune instead of profile manager? Would I need to wipe all devices when they are moved over to intune? Also, as I'm using Apple SchooIs Manager can I have 2 MDM servers at the same time?

Thanks for any help.

I have not used Microsoft Intune but it should be similar to Profile Manager.

If Apple Schools Manager is like Apple Business Manager you can define two or more MDM systems but you cannot have devices allocated to two or more. So for DEP it would have to be one or the other, and also devices currently enrolled with Profile Manager would first have to be un-enrolled before you could re-enrol them to Intune.

It is likely Intune will cost more as Profile Manager has unlimited client devices once you have bought Server.app. Intune however can be run from the cloud whereas Profile Manager has to run on a real Mac.
