I don't have AppleScript Editor app on my iMac, using Mojave 10.14.5. My Script Editor is messed up with a foreign code, not coding with which I am familiar. Stumped am I!

Script Editor : File menu : New. That will create a new AppleScript document.

The File menu : Open Dictionary… lists those applications that have AppleScript scripting library support (e.g. Finder), and use reserved words to control the application.

When you enter AppleScript syntax, you will either be scolded immediately for transgressions, or after you click the compile button. Sometimes neither, until you run it. In the very bottom panel, click the document icon to expose the Replies area so you can see what your AppleScript is telling you.

You will want to refer to the official AppleScript Language Guide for general AppleScript language issues.
