Group text is adding me as duplicate participant. How do I fix this?

Duplicate group members in WhatsApp Hello. I see that this question was created 6 years ago, with no solution. I am hoping there is now an answer: On my iPhone 12, all the members of new groups that I create are appearing twice. For instance, a group with 5 members shows "10 participants" and has each on there twice. If I delete a duplicate, it appears that it is resolved and the person is in the group; but it actually completely removes the person from the group on the telephones of the other participants. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

When I hit group names at top of message I don’t get option to change name why? When I hit names on top of my group text i do not get an option to change the name of the group why?

Hey, jtrsenior.

I see that, when you're involved in a group text message, it shows your participation twice. I'm glad to help.

About iMessage and SMS/MMS -- Go to Settings > Messages, and make sure both SMS and MMS are turned on.
