Duplicate group members in WhatsApp

Hello. I see that this question was created 6 years ago, with no solution. I am hoping there is now an answer: On my iPhone 12, all the members of new groups that I create are appearing twice. For instance, a group with 5 members shows "10 participants" and has each on there twice. If I delete a duplicate, it appears that it is resolved and the person is in the group; but it actually completely removes the person from the group on the telephones of the other participants. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!
